In a recent letter, the Citizen’s Advocate, Mr. Andreas Pottakis, brought to the attention of the competent ministries his observations regarding the issues raised by the implementation of the KYA YPEN/DAOKA/55904/2019 /19.05.2023 (Government Gazette B’ 3475/24.05.2023), in which it typically states that it is not constitutionally acceptable (Articles 24 and 17 of the Constitution) to transfer, to a large extent, the responsibilities of protection of property and the environment from the fires to private individuals, with excessive, indeed, financially burdensome conditions for them.“.
