INFORMATION CIRCULAR WITH POMIDA’S INSTRUCTIONS ON OPTIONAL RENT REDUCTIONS!

According to the new legislation and the latest ministerial decision 1230/2020 the possibility of tax “subsidized” optional rent reductions of at least 30%, following agreements between owners and tenants, applies to months of September, October, November and December 2020, in the following lease cases:

*Professional leases of facilities in businesses still affected by the coronavirus.

*Primary residence leases , when the tenant is an employee or the spouse of an employee in the above “affected” businesses, if his employment contract has been temporarily suspended due to Covid-19.

* Student real estate leases to cover the housing needs of a child – a dependent member, who is studying at a higher education institution outside his place of permanent residence, as long as at least one parent is an employee of an affected company and whose employment contract has been temporarily suspended due to Covid-19.

* Residential leases to seafarers whose seafaring contract is still suspended. The reduction in this case will be effective from October. 

It is clarified that an optional rent reduction can be made freely for any rental category, and at any rate, and declared on TAXISNET.  However, if the tenant’s activity code is not included in the below KAD, and the reduction is not at least -30%, there is no right to a tax refund of 12% of the full rent.
