The KEDE platform is expected to open again in a few days for declarations of undeclared real estate areas without retroactive charges (up to 13 years) and unbearable fines (up to 200%) that apply today, but with a 20% surcharge on the due fees for the period from 1.1.2020 until the day of submission of the statement. The operation of the platform will again not be permanent, and with a gradual increase of the fine every six months, with a limit of 50%, as we have proposed, but again for a limited period of a few months.
It is recalled that the previous arrangement, which was also a request and suggestion of POMIDA, provided for the complete exemption from retroactive charges of municipal taxes and municipal fees and the deletion of all of surcharges and fines until 31.12.2019.
According to the Deputy Minister of the Interior Mr. Petsa, the second opportunity will provide for an important cutting charges so that owners pay 20% of the original fine.
As Mr.Petsas said, as part of the processing of the bill, which is introduced for voting in the Plenary, on Wednesday, 15.10, “it will be possible until 31/12/2021, to submit declarations of the correct data, to determine the surface area and the use of municipal properties, with cancellation of all fines resulting from the differences in square meters and (parallel) obligation of the applicants to pay the fees corresponding to the correct square meters. in 24 monthly installments, calculated from 1/1/2020 until the date of the declaration”.
He noted, however, that “in order to always be in favor of the people, who they had rushed from the first moment, and had declared the undeclared square meters, those who will come with the new opening of the platform, will have a fine of 20% on the amount, resulting from the difference of the square meters of this space”. As explained by Mr. Petsas, “we always have to take into account the people who trust the state, run within the specific deadlines, make use of the benefits. Those who are late for any reason will pay a small fine compared to the previous ones. I remind you that the fines were 60% if this provision was not applied”.
POMIDA’s proposal for undeclared goods
POMIDA’s complete proposal for the new platform is based on its continuous operation, as a means of communication between the taxpayers of the country and the Greek diaspora with the local government provides that those who decide to submit declarations to disclose the actual number of square meters of their properties will pay the amounts of municipal taxes and municipal fees corresponding to the additional declared square meters for the period from 1-1-2020 until date of submission of the declaration, increased by 20%, if the declaration is submitted within six months from the start of re-operation of the electronic platform, and by an additional +5% during each subsequent semester, with a maximum fine of 50%,
It is noted that POMIDA’s proposal is accompanied by a definitive solution for non-electrified properties, reducing the statute of limitations for debts to local authorities to 5 years, from the current 20 today, and a “ceiling” of 50% on fines and other significant institutional interventions.
