TOPIC: Creating a digital platform for student accommodation in private homes.
Honorable Ministers
sometimes victims) of an annual recurring scenario, that of first-year students and their families, frantically looking for housing in another and usually unfamiliar city, immediately after the announcement of the university entrance exam results, through rental houses stuck outside and around of them.
The existing student dormitories are known to be insufficient, which is why the burden of solving the student housing problem was borne by the private initiative. Unfortunately, the Universities of our country (except the University of Ioannina) have not been at all interested in creating housing offices for first-year students in the private sector, or even a minimal digital infrastructure that allows the meeting of the supply and demand of student accommodation, to serve and of both sides. This happens because the administrators of our country’s educational institutions never realized that finding housing to house at least their first-year students from other cities in private homes should be their primary responsibility and concern, as in all of Europe. p>
In order to end this perennial regime of suffering for students and their families,as well as the unacceptable poster pollution outside the HEIs of the country, we suggest that the Ministry of Digital Governance create a simply parameterized software for a digital platform for the supply and demand of student housing, which will work either on the portal of each University, or centrally on Gov.gr . On this platform, the owners of houses available for rent to students will declare their offered houses in time so that the interested students and their parents can be served immediately, as well as the lessors of these houses, many of whom recently found themselves without a tenant due to the pandemic. This will be an institutional offer to our youth, but to the whole society!
At your disposal for any clarification and cooperation
