THE SHORT-TERM LEASE ASSOCIATIONS HAVE A COMMON AGENDA!

The decision was taken at the offices of POMIDA, in an extraordinary joint meeting of union representatives with its Bureau, in view of the establishment of a working committee of representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Finance and Tourism, in order to activate restrictive measures against the owners and managers of short-term rentals. The representatives will request their participation in the work of this Committee, and not their “condemnation” in absentia. In that restrictive measures have already been imposed in some other European capitals, the representatives emphasized that measures were taken in already oversaturated cities such as Barcelona, Amsterdam, etc., while in Athens thousands of empty and unused properties are simply being renovated and utilized, for an activity that works for the benefit of the entire economy and society.

The Associations emphasize that the permanent positions that will determine their movements from now on are:

“1. We do not accept any of the prescribed restrictions as they encourage either the cessation of our activity or tax evasion.

  1. We are ready with joint positions to support the activity of short-term renting in the State, to the competent bodies, in the Mass Media and to jointly organize actions to inform the public about the positive aspects of short-term renting in our country.
  2. We consider it an obligation for all of us to follow the laws set by the state and to support the Short-Term Residence Registry by issuing AMA for all the properties we have available on the platforms.

We invite you all to support this initiative of unity, to support our collective bodies as members and all together to change the negative climate that has been created by actors of opposing interests”.
