On behalf of POMIDA, the Vice-Presidents Professors Mr. Charalambos Tsoutrelis and Dionysis Chionis, the Vice-President E.I.E. Mr. Nikos Stamatakis and the Councilors Mr. Tasos Vappas, Manos Kranidis and Vasiliki Paradia.
The President of POMIDA, Mr. Stratos Paradias, detailed the views of POMIDA both on the substance and on the process for the preparation of the National Land Registry. He particularly emphasized the need to time-limit the State’s claims on legal off-plan private properties, as has been done since 2003 for on-plan properties, to give a single extension of the declaration deadline for all land-registered areas, but also for property owners characterized as “unknown owner” of the 35 areas which were inadvertently excluded from the general extension of judicial correction of their registrations. Finally, he emphasized the need for extensive information of the population, especially of the region and the Greek diaspora, about the need and usefulness of declaring assets in the land registration process.
After the completion of the meeting the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, and the president of POMIDA, Mr. Stratos Paradias made the following statements:
Kostis Hatzidakis: It is not possible to proceed with the Land Registry in the absence of the owners. We therefore agreed with the president of the Panhellenic Federation of Property Owners (POMIDA), Mr. Stratos Paradias, to is in constant and regular contact with the new administration of the Land Registry in order to deal immediately with the issues that have arisen or will arise. We also agreed to consider 7 specific proposals of POMIDA for the better operation and promotion of the Land Registry. The Government’s position is that the Land Registry should proceed quickly, but also taking into account the issues that arise in relation to the rights of owners. The Land Registry puts order in order for the country to move forward and for investments to develop seamlessly. But it directly concerns millions of our fellow citizens, whose rights must be protected”.
Stratos Paradias: “We informed the minister and the political leadership of the Ministry for the views of POMIDA on the substantive and procedural conditions for the development of the Land Registry. It must clarify as soon as possible what belongs to private individuals and what belongs to the State. Our message to all property owners across the country is:“Every piece of land has value. Claim it. Don’t lose it.”
