AP. VESYROPOULOS: RENT REDUCTION AND LANDLORD SUBSIDIES CONTINUE!

Directly benefiting from this measure are catering businesses that operate with the distribution of packaged products and the provision of packaged products from the store, hair salons, beauty centers, businesses of cultural and sports sectors, gyms, tourism businesses such as hotels, accommodation and travel agencies, and transport services.

For landlords who rent out properties in these businesses, compensation equal to 80% of the rent for natural persons and equal to 60% of the rent for legal entities will be paid directly to their bank account. At the same time, for the month of March, the mandatory 40% rent discount continues for businesses belonging to the remaining affected KAD.

In addition, for employees who their employment contract is suspended, a 40% rent discount is given for their main residence and their dependents’ student residence.

With a related decision (A. 1040/2021) it is provided that in a branch of an affected company on which restrictive measures are imposed, while the head office is included among the affected companies entitled to a mandatory rent reduction by 40%, then the company as a whole is entitled to a full rent exemption. In this case, the branch takes the head office along with it and the entire business is exempted from paying 100% of the rent.
