SUBJECT: Abolition of the supplementary tax of ENFIA.

Honorable Ministers

“In view of the Prime Minister’s speech at the TIF, we consider it absolutely necessary for your Ministry to recommend the end of one of the most important distortions of our tax system: The abolition of the supplementary tax of the ENFIA from the year 2022, and the converting it into a single and not a double tax on real estate.

The increase in property values in most areas of the country, their expansion to many new areas, but also the possibility of rational taxation of off-plan property, not so much purely agricultural property, as that which, due to its location and area, is intended for residential and tourist development, give your Ministry the unique opportunity to free our economy and society from “gangrene » of the additional tax, since the amount it yields will be more than covered by the above increased resources!

΄As can be seen from the relevant studies of the IOBE, but also the proposal of the Pissarides Committee, the abolition of the ENFIA supplementary tax, and its transformation into a truly UNIQUE real estate tax (one tax per property and not two), combined with the appropriate fiscal and administrative incentives, will IMMEDIATELY lead to a take-off of construction activity and real estate transactions, which will bring to the State healthy tax revenues and employment and turnover in huge branches of industry, craft, trade and liberal professions and recovery of construction and investment activity and our National Economy in general.

With its abolition, we hope to limit the plundering of private real estate, which is due to the absurd scale of income taxation, but also to a series of other new and irresistibly increasing charges, certificates, ” identities”, inspections, etc.

Finally, we ask to be invited to hear our opinions by the Committee for the Reform of the ENFIA that you have recommended to your Ministry.

With great appreciation

The President The Secretary General
