POMIDA TO THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE: RENT REDUCTION: THE DECISION OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE SHOULD BE PUBLISHED IMMEDIATELY WITH THE JAN-FEB. 2021!

That is why POMIDA requested in a letter from the Ministry of Finance, among other things, in addition to the list of branches that are closed by state order and therefore exempt from paying rent for the two months of January – February, to proceed with the immediate issuance of the decision to define the Activity Number Codes (KAD) for the months of January and February for which the rent reduction by 40% will apply, so that disputes cease and the payment is made on time 60% of these rents.

The full text of the letter is as follows:

To the Minister of Finance Mr. Christos Staikouras

The Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Theodoros Skylakakis

The Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Apostolos Vesyropoulos

& The Commander of AADE, Mr. Giorgos Pitsilis

SUBJECT: Reduction of rents: The decision of the Ministry of Finance should be published immediately with the KADS JAN-FEB. 2021!

Dear Mr. Ministers, Mr. Governors

The continuous promotion in the media by all competent and non-competent, of the non-payment of rents by businesses that remained closed by state order during the December festive period 2020 until today, January 15, creates the false impression that this is a general measure that concerns all leases resulting in a significant number of tenants of other types of leases, mainly the “afflicted”, self-employed, crafts, warehouses, etc. but also residential tenants, to declare to his landlords that he does not intend to pay absolutely anything for January and February 2021!

This is because unfortunately the ministerial order has not been issued to date decision with the KAD concerning the professional rents of the businesses that have been characterized simply as “affected”, which are most of them, and the rents of the main (and student) residence of the employees whose employment contracts are suspended, whose tenants are apparently they will have to pay 60% of the rent, and the State will return 20% tax-free to the landlords.

For this reason we ask you to proceed with the immediate issue of the decision of your Ministry, as every previous month, with the definition of the Activity Number Codes (KAD) of the months of January and February for which the rent reduction by 40% will apply, so that disputes cease and that the 60 % of these rents.

Finally because due to the above measures, thousands of landlords are in despair in terms of dealing with their current obligations, we ask you once again to extend to them – who unfortunately do not have a Social Security Card like all the other victims – and all the other beneficial measures, facilitations and transfers of tax obligations, arrangements, etc. provided for so many other categories of taxpayers, to be given a deadline to correct all the wrongs of COVID declarations, to clear and pay the refunds of previous months and to establish a process of automatic online confirmation of new COVID declarations so that it is immediately clear whether the tenant is entitled to the reduction and the landlord to the compensation.

At your disposal for any clarification and cooperation
